The Alterside
I don't believe in Political Art. It is too often cheap, and shallow. While
Political art often feels ultra relevant in the moment, in the long run, it is
relevant to very few. The question must be asked: would my work be well
received by a Mongolian 500 years from now? Or a Native American
woman 500 years ago? Would Shakespeare have done this, if he were in
my shoes? Would Bach? Or Miles Davis?
The answer would often be no. The goal of all worthwhile art is to reach
down deep into the soul of the human being, and reflect what you see. It is
not to be an editorial writer.
So, I don't make Political Art. But, I am a very politically minded man, and
have the strength of far too many convictions. Instead, I write a Blog
called Good Tithings and comment in the appropriate format.
I will post on those subjects relevant to my thinking about the state of the
world, and the people in it. I will expound on the ideas I believe to be
fundamental to helping the disadvantaged gain advantage. As well as outline
what I see as the cornerstone principles that should govern any democracy,
and certainly one in a world as complex and ever changing as the one in
which we live.
